Google introduced this thing called the Sidewiki. Before you do anything else, I want you to say that a few times. Then say “Side wikiwiki” in a 1990’s rapper voice. It’s very fun.

I hadn’t even heard about the sidewiki until I found this blog. And yes, I’ll freely admit I mainly clicked on it because it paired the word “domination” with picture of Darth Vadar. Whatever.

Anyway, reading this blog ( and I thoroughly encourage you to do so ) I discovered that Google released what is basically a little side-along forum where you can comment on any webpage you want. Hightalk ( and others who sound so much more professional informed than me ) think that Google is trying to ninja its way into owning all the social networking awesomeness that Facebook currently has. [ I would say MySpace as well, but let's face it. MySpace is for old men and young girls. Not a lot of good there. ]

I thought about this, and I can see, in the future, picking out not a username, but a online social identity that you will have for the rest of your life. And that scares me. It also makes the little Apple voice in my mind say “There’s an xkcd for that.” [ Read the hover text and you'll understand. ]

I think the internet is going to, eventually, be open. Everything will bleed into everything else and everyone will constantly be talking about everything. Think Extras by Scott Westerfield.

Hmm… What do you think? Are you also terrified that things will evenutally go bad and Google will conquer the world?

I must say that when Google buys either Wal*Mart or Disney, I’m going to move to Canada. Because everyone knows that Canada isn’t like real life. Right?
