Amie's Life

*cues “I Am Not Dead Yet” from Spamalot*

I really need to get back into the swing of blogging and such.

It’s been busy. During my bit of quiet I’ve been off doing work for my classes (which are going good so far, even if I can’t seem to memorize anything for tests. yay wonky memory!), and rehearsals for two stage shows now.

I’ve been getting myself to write more, even though it’s mainly poetry. If I get anything good/worthwhile down, I’ll type it up for people to read. Speakin of which, one of the older poems is getting entered in the writing contest thing at NCTC. Wish it luck.

I’ve been seeing a crazy number of people that I know all around the town. This would be normal, except that it’s just started happening in the past month or two, and especially with people that I know from past shows or from the acting class. I dunno, I guess it’s just nice to feel like you don’t just drop off the earth when you finish something.

Going back to the subject of the stage shows, Carousel is opening at the end of this month! Opening night is Friday the 27th at 7:30pm, I believe. It’s going to be great, so come on out and join us at Campus. More dates, times, and prices can be found here at the website.

You’d think I’d have more interesting things to talk about after this break than just poetry and a shameless plug of the show, but I don’t. Sorry. =)

C’ya.

I hope you can see all the details.

This is us.  :)

:Batman:

Not much to say for this blog, I think.

I made it into the DCT cast of Carousel as a chorus member. First rehearsal is technically Monday night, but I’m not going to be able at any of the Monday night rehearsals due to Psychology class, so…Tuesday is day one for me! A few people that I know made it, too, so I won’t be completely misplaced-ish.

Speaking of Psych class, I officially dub it a good class. Our first optional extra-credit project is to experiment with non-drug-induced hallucinations by shutting ourselves into a pitch-dark, solitary area for about 20-30 minutes and writing a one-page essay on our self-induced experience.

Moving on.

Sunday. Or technically, today. Once again, the day has come around. Yes folks, that’s right.

Superbowl.

If you can tell, I’m not a huge football fan. Actually, I have no real thing against it; it’s just not my sport. It wouldn’t be as annoying if we didn’t have a big street-wide party here at the house. Can’t escape the people if the people are *here*. Luckily, I am pro’ly kidnapping the car and spending the afternoon/evening at the Square with a backpack of stuff. I don’t know what time I’m going to start my stay there, but I know the game starts around 5:00pm, and I’ll easilly be there by then, and then stay until I get bored/tired/arrested. Change of plans, fleeing elsewhere now. I’ll be able to hit the Square Wednesday, seeing as I think we’re going to Civic Center Park.

So…yeah, that’s the plan. Off to bed for now.

C’ya.

The PMS-ing symptoms of the local weather that has been plaguing north Texas still doesn’t cease to amaze me.

I essentially spent Sunday on the Square. Went and saw Anna in the Tropics at the Campus Theatre (well done, imo), ran a few errands to Recycled Books and a few other places, sat around drawing and listening to music (there was a guitarist there) and enjoying the sun for a while, went home for dinner with grandpa and the family, and then came back and auditioned for Carousel. Saw a few friends from Godspell at the audition, and I know one or two more were auditioning tonight, so I hope they all did well. Casting’s gonna be released by Saturday.

I love hanging around the Square. I can’t seem to get there more often since the parentals usually don’t let me go somewhere without someone else being there with me. Meh.

After that wonderful, clear-blue-skied, pleasantly-chilly day, we suddenly have the next two days or so with rain, possible sleet, and freeze warnings. Today was already gray, dreary, drippy, and cold. Going to and from NCTC was not very fun. Made a friend in Comp class, tho: we were paper-IMing each other while we were taking notes. Yay, multitasking.

So…yeah.

Come back, nice days!

So…I dunno how many of you heard, it was on the DL and all that…

But, uh…

We got a new President today. =)

I saw the swearing-in of the Vice and the Pres, and watched the Speech before I had to head off to class today. It was amazing watching the videos throughout the day as Americans and people around the world stopped and watched this event with any available of media set up for viewing. Heck, around two million people crowded the Mall in Washington to watch the inauguration of our 44th President.

I don’t care if you’re democrat, republican, libertarian, green, independent, or anything else; let’s just be American. Here’s to four good years of leadership.

C’ya!

Finally, iMeem decides to work with me. I’ll share this as my first CSC entry. Kiara and the ‘Busians have already heard this (since I was asking how it sounded and such), but this is actually the first original song I’ve ever done. I apologize that a few parts seem a little twtichy: I don’t have the best recording implements here. Then again, I’m a twitchy performer anyway. No lyrics (yet), just guitar. Technically this record was a “first draft” kind of thing, as I’ve made a few changes between the time when I originally recorded this and now.

I’ll pro’ly be posting more songs on iMeem if I get those recorded. I like sharing music.

(note: yes, RN is me. 95% of the time, I use either Riley or Squeak online.)

I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to get something, anything together for the Challenge, but my brain seems to have snuck out the back door on a last-ditch “Freedom or Death” effort on it’s part. I haven’t really been able to write, type, draw, or anything it seems, with no reason why I should be this stupid.

It seems the only thing I’ve really been able to do is just mess around on the guitar. If I could really get my mic to work, I could record one or two of my original songs and post those. I have one; yeah, maybe I’ll do that. Gimme a bit, gotta go play with iMeem…

I should at least get back on to blogging more again. I’m all signed up for three classes at NCTC this semester: Intro to Theatre (tues/thurs, 12:30-1:50pm), Intro to Psychology (mon, 6:30-9…something pm), and Composition I (mon/wed, 3:00-4:20pm). The transition back into Tae-Kwon-Do was easier than I expected: only forgot my second-degree form for the most part, and that still came back after a few runs. Have been trying to beat insomnia by forcing myself to get up at 7-8am to go jogging. So far, minimal luck. The parents had an impromptu party with the neighbors earlier tonight. What was just going to be a few people turned into a Wii Party/Happy Hour here. Since it was too loud in the compy room, my room (thin walls), and the main part of the house, I stayed either in Dad’s office or outside.

This = wonderful (albeit sadly brief) version of a beautiful hymn. If you think you know the guy, you’re pro’ly right.

Uh…I think that’s it for now.

C’ya.

Well, the original week-long diagnosis of a few minor annoyances of a virus had a hopeful prognosis until last night. Unfortunately, complications arose from the spreading and consequential advancing of said virus. All three detection, prevention, and treatment attempts only served to strengthen the infection by causing it to multiply and garner two more separate viruses from it’s still-undiagnosed origin point.

So, after an overnight stint in intensive care, the end result has been multiple system failure with no hope of recovery. Pulled the plug earlier today. Time of death: 1:43pm.

RIP, Compy.

*shot*

Sorry, I’m bored. Compy gave out after trying to get rid of what became two or three viruses and two trojans. Looks like Dad gets to rebuild my compy now like he’s been wanting to since December anyway…meh…

Did you know that apparently January 28th is Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day?

Just sayin’.

-=Amie=-

This one’s gonna be starting back at the Tae-Kwon-Do school this Thursday on a once-weekly basis for now. It should be fun going back and getting into stuff like forms and drills again after this break. It’ll be nice to see people I know there, if they’re there.

It’s going to be interesting getting used to sparring again.

Just wanted to say ’cause I could and it made for blog material.

C’ya.
